The PPN North West and the British Muslim Heritage Centre in Manchester are pleased to be hosting the Northern launch of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) BAME Positive Practice Guide.
The full day event will be facilitated by Saiqa Naz, co-author of the guide who is also Chair of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Special Interest Group and currently works in Sheffield’s Specialist Psychotherapy Service.
We are also delighted Ursula James, IAPT Clinical Delivery Manager, NHS England and NHS Improvement will be joining us. You will learn about the guide and examples of good practice, including the performance of an award winning play. We also hope to be joined by People with Personal Experiences who will talk about their experiences of receiving care.
The event will be an opportunity for commissioners and service leads to come together in a safe space to think about how to improve access and recovery for BAME communities. It will provide time to network with local BAME organisations and to be supported to think about how to implement the IAPT BAME Positive Practice Guide, develop action points and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Overall, the day will be a relaxed day with good company to enable us to share ideas and start to develop our understanding of how best to support BAME communities in IAPT services.
